Our mudroom didn’t have any coat hangers, and as a family of cyclists, we have a lot of gear that needs to be hung up. My partner created designs in Illustrator — cherry blossoms, My Neighbor Totoro characters (and accurate theme music!) — and I etched them onto oak boards with a laser cutter. After sanding and finishing, I attached hangers — colorful ones for the kid’s clothing hanger, and utilitarian black ones for the coat hangers for adults.
